An den Turntables beehrt uns im Januar der universale Kulturarbeiter YURIY GURZHY. Unermüdlich ist er im Auftrag vor allem der ukrainischen und jüdischen (Musik-)Kultur unterwegs. Begonnen hat er als Musiker, Produzent und DJ, inzwischen ist er auch Autor, Kolumnist (ukrainisches Kriegstagebuch / Tagesspiegel), Theatermacher und Herausgeber zahlreicher Musik-Compilations, die die Musik der Ukraine und Osteuropas feiern. Seine Band Rotfront ruht gerade, doch neue Bandprojekte wie Foxtroty mit dem berühmten Charkiwer Musiker und Autor Serhiy Zhadan rufen Yuriy zurück auf die Bühnen dieses Landes. Kooperationen unter anderem mit Shantel, Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Orchestre International du Vetex, Uros Petkovic (Shazalakazoo), Frank London und Marina Frenk oder Lemez Lovas (OiVaVoi) und Wladimir Kaminer zeugen von seinen musikalischen Leidenschaften und der guten Vernetzung in der (Ost-)europäischen Musikszene.
Und diese Leidenschaft wird er mit uns teilen und uns auf die Tanzfläche ziehen. Er feiert mit uns die Musikszene seines Geburtslandes, wandelt auf den Pfaden der reichen Geschichte des Klezmer, und mischt immer einen Schuß Reggae und Offbeats in die osteuropäische Folklore. Und auch ukrainische, elektronischere Musik hat er mit dabei : Chornobayivka Beat & Bavovna Electro.

DJ und Host KARACHO RABAUKIN lässt es ebenfalls krachen mit Hochzeitsfanfare vom Balkan. Sie vermischt Ska mit Folkoreklängen aus Osteuropa, Polka-Punk aus den Karpaten, Klezmer und Swingstomper aus dem letzten Jahrhundert, Romano Hip Hop und Roma Sounds aus dem neuen Jahrtausend, arabischen Beats mit Dancehall im Kleid des Balkanpop. Melodien zwischen Lebenslust und Melancholie, wodkagetränkte Tanzbeats zwischen Extase und Engtanz, Kolo und Kreistanz. Hände in die Luft, Füße vom Boden. Hejde und Opa. The universal cultural worker YURIY GURZHY will be honoring us on the turntables in January. He works tirelessly on behalf of Ukrainian and Jewish (music) culture in particular. He started out as a musician, producer and DJ, but is now also an author, columnist (Ukrainian War Diary / Tagesspiegel), theater maker and editor of numerous music compilations that celebrate the music of Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
